We will discuss the development of the POLARBEAR CMB polarization experiment. The science goals of POLARBEAR are to (i) characterize the E-mode and B-mode lensing power spectra and (ii) to perform a deep search for the inflationary gravity wave B-mode signal. POLARBEAR is designed to have both the required high sensitivity and control of systematic uncertainties to approach these important science goals. POLARBEAR will be an important pathfinder for CMBPOL technologies and observational techniques. One of the key technologies is large-format arrays of planar-antenna coupled superconducting bolometers.
