Sunday, February 28th at Panofsky Auditorium Breezeway 5-7pm Registration and Reception Wednesday, March 3rd, offsite excursion 1:30pm pick up at SLAC (Parking lot C) Arrive at California Academy of Sciences (http://www.calacademy.org/) This popular Bay Area attraction houses a natural history museum, planetarium, aquarium, and rainforest dome. It is also home to a world-class research institution with over 25 million specimens in its collections. The collections are housed in a complex of structures designed by Renzo Piano. Nearly 10 years and $500 million dollars in the making, the new Academy is a masterpiece in sustainable architecture, blends seamlessly into the park's natural setting, and is filled with hundreds of innovative exhibits and thousands of extraordinary plants and animals. 5:15pm Depart California Academy of Sciences 5:45pm Arrive at Orson Restaurant (http://www.orsonsf.com/index.html) Come and experience what executive chef and owner Elizabeth Falkner is doing South of Market at her Michelin Recommended Orson. Expect deliciously satisfying dishes showcasing the best of contemporary California cuisine in a stylish restaurant, bar, and lounge uniting art and design in a lively social scene. 9:30 Depart Orson to return to SLAC If you would like to participate, please pay by February 21st for the final headcount.
