The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) in a conglomeration of employees and programs from several National Labs. This talk will discuss the development and implementation of a safety program in this complex environment. The SNS is being constructed and tested in a dynamic and sometimes treacherous environment. In spite of this there have been no major injuries or illnesses. Reasons for this result will be discussed as well.
*SNS is a collaboration of six US National Laboratories: Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF), Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). SNS is managed by UT-Battelle, LLC, under contract DE-AC05-00OR22725 for the U.S. Department of Energy.
