The talk will describe in detail the organisation
of electrical safety at CERN. It is interesting to list what
is included in Electrical Safety, e.g. operational procedures,
intervention procedures, electromagnetic compatibility
requirements, fire protection, material limitations.
Examples of electrical installations and corresponding
rules in the forthcoming LHC-tunnel will be given.
The risk management, in particular the risk sharing
between contractors and laboratory will be explained
citing the corresponding European rules and their CERN
amendments. Finally the talk will give an outline of how
CERN deals with non-conforming research apparatus with
inherent risks, such as a physics detector in an experiment
featuring confined space, flammable gas, high voltage
and hazardous materials.
