On December 4, 2008, SLAC staff will get the rare opportunity to take a sneak peek at the LCLS. SLAC badges are required for those joining the tour, but no special training or certification is needed.
Buses will depart Parking Lot C every 15 minutes, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am and from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. The tour will run the length of the LCLS, from the Beam Transport Hall to the Far Experimental Hall (see the LCLS Facility Map for more detail).
A few things to keep in mind before signing up for the tour:
The LCLS walkthrough is approximately 3/4 of a mile in length. There are no stairs but 45 minutes of steady walking is required. With this in mind, visitors are asked to wear comfortable, flat, closed-toe shoes. Long pants are also required.
In addition, please be advised that there are no working restroom facilities along the tour route.
