| Abstract | After a long period during which X-ray microscopy was an esoteric activity pursued by a few fanatics, today there are X-ray microscopes sprouting everywhere, including SSRL! Even if you do not have a lightsource handy, you can buy your own "off the shelf" instrument using a laboratory source.
Microscopy has been moving from 2D to 3D, where the third dimension may be energy, time, or depth.
The future will bring further improvement in resolution and speed, as well as increased sensitivity to absorption, phase, elemental, chemical, structural, or magnetic contrast. |
