| Abstract | Magnetism and magneto-dynamics on the nanoscale is of technological as well as scientific interest. Time resolved x-ray microscopy uniquely combines the relevant time- and length scales in magnetism. This will be illustrated on recent examples in spintronics and magneto-dynamics. Time resolved STXM can image the magnetization switching process in a spin torque device. The dynamics of magnetic vortices and its role in magnetism has been unveiled by x-ray microscopy.
The talk will conclude with an outlook into future techniques and applications of ultrafast x-ray microscopy.
