Abstract	Bill and I were graduate students in the same research group, he finished before I started. The summer of 1963 I worked in Bill's lab; that was the first academic summer for both of us. I knew most of Bill's classmates and most of his early students. I will discuss happenings in these years and make a few comments on the status of electronic structure research in this era.
