I will review polarization generation in relativistic sources like GRBs and parsec scale AGN jets. Polarization may be produced either as synchrotron or synchrotron self-Compton emission in ordered magnetic fields, or by inverse Compton scattering. I will discuss relativistic kinematics of polarization generation in these sources and how various models account for polarization production. I will argue that large scale magnetic fields provide the best explanation for polarization in AGN jets and, if confirmed, in GRBs.
