Polarization effects of scattering in disk atmospheres

I will review basic physical mechanisms that give rise to the polarization in the X-ray domain. The dependence of polarization of the Comptonized radiation from the hot corona on its geometry, bulk velocity, and temperature will be discussed. I will also show how special and general relativistic effects change the predicted polarization behaviour.
