Polarized photons tend to scatter at right angles to the incident polarization vector, resulting in an azimuthal scatter angle distribution that is modulated relative to the distribution of non-polarized photons. Both the IBIS and SPI instruments on the INTEGRAL observatory can detect and quantify such modulation, and therefore measure polarization, IBIS through its Compton mode, and SPI, using multiple detector events. We have simulated the azimuthal scattering angle distribution of polarized and non-polarized photons using both instruments to calculate the minimum detectable polarization levels for gamma-ray bursts, Crab, Cyg X-1 for reasonable observation times.
