Panel Discussion "The Development and Use of Public Data Bases: It's Complicated!"

  The panel will moderated by Elliott Bloom of SLAC and consist of the following members: John Ioannidis of Stanford University, Jeff Scargle of NASA Ames, Tina Cartaro of SLAC, and David Skinner of LBNL. We hope you can make it to this late addition to the schedule.

Be sure to sign up to attend the Welcome Drink and Nibbles. The reception is a great way to meet other attendees while enjoying great food. Everyone is welcome and the reception is $20 per person and a terrific way to kick-off the conference! Deadline for reception and dinner headcount and payment will be May 25th. No refunds after May 28th.

Weather permitting we will make safe viewing available to the participants, probably in the afternoon coffee break. Details are being worked out, but the timing (PDT) is as follows:

External Ingress - 3:06:20 p.m. 60° alt Internal Ingress - 3:23:56 p.m. 57° alt Greatest Transit - 6:25:31 p.m. 22° alt Sunset - 8:25 p.m.

The ingress will be the most interesting for those interested in the Black Drop effect.

SLAC Tour of LCLS
 

June 5, 2012 • 5:00pm to 7:00pm (Subject to change) • Kavli Auditorium Lobby (Bldg. 51)

 Tours meet promptly at the Kavli Auditorium Lobby. Interested  participants will have the opportunity to sign up for the tours in the Kavli Auditorium lobby. Free to all participants.

  • Buses arrive at Kavli
  • 5pm SLAC/LCLS Tour Presentation immediately "Dark Matter Searches" talk (Conrad): Kavli Auditorium: <30 minutes
  • The tour will have two destinations: Klystron gallery/LINAC and Near Experimental Hall (NEH)/Data presentation
  • One bus to LINAC, one to LCLS NEH experimental endstations
  • Bus1 5:50pm arrive at the LCLS NEH
  • Bus2 5:50pm arrive at LINAC
  • 30min tour of LINAC/NEH
  • 6:20pm Reload buses, switch to LINAC/NEH
  • return to Panofsky by 7pm
