LCLS Instruments

Four scientific instruments are currently being designed to capitalize on the unique properties of the LCLS, namely its high intensity short pulses x-rays. The Atomic, Molecular and Optical (AMO) science instrument will occupy a soft x-ray side branch of the LCLS in hutch 2 of the Near Experimental Hall (NEH). The AMO instrument is being built as a part of the LCLS construction project, while the other three instruments for x-ray pump probe(XPP), coherent x-ray imaging (CXI), and x-ray coherent scattering (XCS) are being built as part of a separate SLAC managed DOE project, the LCLS Ultrafast Science Instruments, LUSI.
